About Literature :

Reading and writing are closely inter-related with the study of Literature. Literature represents a language or a people: culture and tradition. But, literature is more important than just a historical or cultural artifact. Literature introduces us to new worlds of experience. It has many meanings but the word literature may mean large tomes of words and stories that have become classics over time however this is only one definition of literature. There are still many more meaning of literature. Literature comes from that Latin word littera, when directly translated means letter.
Literature, embraces all compositions in writing or print which preserve the results of observation, thought, or fancy; but those upon the positive sciences are usually excluded.
Literature is the art of written works. Literally translated, the word means "acquaintance with letters", and therefore the academic study of literature is known as Letters.
